Middle School

Leadership:  Students are offered various opportunities to take leadership roles in their classrooms and school wide.  Student government affords Middle School students the chance to make school-wide decisions including calendaring, fund-raising, and planning activities and events.  In addition, they play a key role in the management an operation of the school snack bar.  Learning valuable lessons on supply and demand, marketing, and general economics of a small business.

The National Junior Honor Society "elevates the school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.  Students are selected based on academic performance, community service, and faculty recommendation. 

The physical education program teaches habits and skill such as good sportsmanship, commitment, physical fitness, and teamwork.    Middle school students build on the team skills as well as the rules and play techniques of a variety of sports. 

At Bayer, we expand education far beyond the classroom walls, so children come to see the whole world — not just school buildings — as a place to learn. The Middle School students have traveled to Washington, DC  to take in the vast history of our nation as well as other trips to explore the natural wonders of Arizona.  Stepping out of the classroom helps Bayer students strengthen their curiosity and confidence.  It builds the link between their learning to a broader community and world.

Art is a vehicle for critical thinking, discussion, inquiry, and problem solving. Bayer school offers art classes to middle school students as an elective or an after school class.

Students develop computing skills for communication, problem-solving, digital art/storytelling, and graphic design.  They use a myriad of programs including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie and many other software applications.

Community Service is part of Bayer Private School's culture and middle school participate in a number of on campus service projects.  Besides hosting events for our younger students like the Polar Express or Halloween carnival, they also serve the outside community by hosting Christmas Angels for foster children and orphanages among other community services.

Bayer has a very active Parent/Teacher group that organizes many school activities such as Astronomy night, Fall Festival, and numerous individual classroom events.  Our students have supported the greater community in such ways like writing letters to the veterans, literacy book drives, and caroling at the neighborhood nursing home.  The spirit of giving and gratitude is an important part of our school culture.

Bayer School’s Student Government inventories, stocks, and manages the Snack Den. This is a great opportunity not only to supply our students with healthy snack options, but also a chance to teach some of our upper classmen some basic retail management skills.

During their recess times, students at Bayer Private School can visit the Snack Den. This student-run snack bar utilizes a pre-paid punch card system where students can purchase snacks for their day. There are also a variety of organic snacks available.

Once a week, students can choose and one or two electives of their choice.  Some of our past electives include woodworking, sewing, history of rock and roll, cooking, sustainable gardens, challenge accepted and so much more.
